darlinghurst delectable delights

Saturday morning Darlinghurst -- starts at 10.00am

Please note that we don't offer this tour every week, the next one will be on Saturday 19 May.

This walking tour of delightful Darlinghurst is an intense and informative indulgence for incurable chocoholics and chocolate connoisseurs.

Thanks so much for Saturday. I didn’t realise how much information I retained until I got home and was telling my husband all about chocolate and Darlinghurst! I was still reeling off facts yesterday! The day was informative and delicious, and it was such a lovely group of people too.

This Saturday morning stroll through the streets and lanes of Darlinghurst introduces you to two exceptional artisan chocolate shops. The chocolate experience on this tour is not for the faint-hearted, incurable chocoholics and chocolate connoisseurs will be in their true element!

Eric and I would like to take this opportunity to thank you so much for such a delightful (and decadent) three and half hours that we so happily spent with you yesterday. What a wonderful experience, so very informative and so fabulously indulgent! You were wonderful and a terrific hostess to us all. We both loved the informative and very interesting walks between each destination. Thank you again, and I do hope there may be another opportunity to meet up with you on another similarly-based tour!

At the first chocolate shop you will meet the chocolatiers and, while sipping a delectable and decadent hot chocolate, learn about how cocoa becomes chocolate or, as the experts say, the "bean to bar" process. You'll watch chocolate making techniques such as the intriguing and spectacular marble tempering and hear how complex flavours are combined to provide a unique tasting experience. The culmination of this experience is to taste the "edible jewels" which they have created.

A fun, relaxed and interesting day. It was great visiting people who are so passionate about their product. Shelagh (the tour operator and guide) is a fantastic guide, sets a good pace, knows lots of interesting information about the local area. She has created a fantastic tour that is very easy to get to for the meeting place and a good length (about 3.5 hrs). You get to sample lots of high quality things (chocolate! coffee! gelato!) so it is good value.

You'll have the opportunity to counteract your chocolate consumption with seriously good (award winning!) coffee at a café owned by one of Sydney's coffee icons. And pique your palate with gorgeous gelati from a shop which sets the benchmark for gelato and sorbet in Sydney.

While indulging, you'll learn about some of the lawbreakers and larrikins who used to frequent the area.

You'll complete this intense indulgence tour at an intimate and luxurious salon where the owner will explain his chocolate philosophy while you explore the realms of chocolate richness.

We had a wonderful time, and were very impressed with your tour and the places we visited. We shall recommend the tour to anyone wondering what to give people for Xmas and birthdays, or just for themselves!

Thank you for yesterday. It was lovely to wander around and explore chocolate places we didn't know about. We purchased at Boon as well as Kakawa and tested a few last night when we got home. The rest will go down well over the next couple of days. We will recommend the tour to others.
